Dennis Tueart's timing aint what it used to be.

A massive body blow for NY Blues was dished out last night when I recieved the following E-mail from the all time City Legend Denis Tueart;

Hi Kevin,
I was given your contact by David Clayton who edits the Manchester city magazine and with whom I have just done some interviews about New York and the Cosmos to help launch the MCFC US website.

I am attending a New York Cosmos Legends Dinner in Manhatten to re-launch the brand which was purchased by Paul Kemsley, former Vice Chairman of Spurs several years ago. The Dinner takes place this Saturday, 31st July, at the Time Warner Centre, 10 Columbus Circle.

My flight leaves Manchester this Friday at 9.25 am and I am staying in New York until Monday and wondered if your branch had a get together planned for this weekend when I could call in and say ‘Hello’?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Dennis Tueart.

This on the weekend when most of us will be in Baltimore to watch the Blues take on the riegning European Champs FFS. I explained the situation and asked if he might be making any more trips to NY in the near future so that we could organise a proper event (Imagine a game during the season with Dennis Tueart in attendance). He told me he would be in touch on the next go round. Lets hope its sooner rather than later.

Would be great to have him in during the season. I don't know if you had heard but they are putting the Cosmo's back together to play in the MLS. (No not Pele and Tuert and all) but Pele and a consortium are backing the venture so there will be 2 New York teams soon.

They're having trouble selling out for the 1 current NY team. Do you know where they will play?

No idea on where they will play yet mate. I will keep researching and see what comes up. Red Bulls were sold out against the Galaxy on Satdy.

The Red Bulls selling out is great news for the game in the U.S. and I wish we could do similar over here in Australia. Our season is 2 weeks old and crowds are still in decline. We (Brisbane Roar) play Sydney on saturday night. 3 years ago this attracted 30,000+. I am not expecting too much above 10,000 this weekend. I hope that I am wrong

If New York is able to sustain 2 MLS sides and create a suitable rivalry then the MLS would have achieved a fantastic result. I just hope that the owners of Cosmos realise that Pele is well over 60 years old now.
