The Mad Hatter Saloon & Beer Garden is the ideal spot to watch your favorite games and enjoy great food, great drink, great atmosphere and great craic. We're located in a tenement built in the 1920s, steps away from Broadway Alley, the only unpaved through street in Manhattan, where Barnum and Bailey once kept their circus elephants.
The Mad Hatter Saloon & Beer Garden preserves its own impressive piece of New York City history behind its friendly bar. The beautiful cherrywood back bar and counter were handcarved with intricate details in the 1880s by craftsmen from the Knickerbocker Brewing Company, formerly located on the upper east side and owned by Jacob Ruppert, owner of the Yankees from 1914-1939 and the man responsible for building the original Yankee Stadium. The back bar was originally built for a hotel in the financial district and made its way up to 26th & 3rd 40 years ago after it was bought at an auction by the previous owners. There are apparently only five Knickerbocker bars left in the city. We don't know where the other four are...but we're sure you'll be more than amazed with the Mad Hatter Saloon & Beer Garden's bar and its tenders. Check out New York Magazine and Shecky's write-ups. |
